Annual Wheelchair Games

The Michigan Wheelchair Games are held in early Spring for several days of competition, with an awards ceremony and banquet following competition. Each year, the Wayne Lee Memorial Award is presented to the company or group, which makes a significant contribution to the promotion of wheelchair sports. Also, the John Hussey Memorial Award is presented to the individual elected most instrumental in the promotion of wheelchair sports.

Participation in the events is not restricted to athletes who use wheelchairs all of the time. Athletes have certain physical limitations, and must compete from a wheelchair in some events. All athletes are medically classified using the international functional classification system so that competition for all degrees of disability is fair.
